McKnight Carries on Marketing Innovation Legacy

Skip Carney, founder of CarneyCo, an innovation-focused marketing communications agency, is excited to announce that Jessica Carney McKnight has been named president of the 41-year-old company.

“Jessica was literally born into this business,” said Carney. “As soon as she could walk and talk, I put her in newspaper ads, radio and TV commercials and videos. She was and is a natural.”

After earning a degree in Advertising from UNC-Chapel Hill, McKnight went to work for the top marketing firms in Greensboro and Winston-Salem. In 2018, she joined her father’s agency and opened CarneyCo West in the Triad.

“I’m excited to see what opportunities and challenges come as I step into the role of president,” McKnight said. “I know that with my dad’s guidance, and our great team, we’ll continue growing and providing bold ideas and innovative solutions for our clients.”

Carney opened the agency in 1980 in Rocky Mount as a recording studio that evolved into an agency that believes in thinking big with award-winning results. The proof is in the pudding: Several key clients have been with the agency since the very beginning.

“Jessica really hit the ground running, and I’m excited to see her already bringing her experience and new perspectives to the company,” said Carney. “My role is shifting to focus more on our patented ReVision™ process and high-level strategy for our clients. I’m so glad to be able to step back and know the company and our clients are in good hands.”

The company recently unveiled a new website and brand message.

“We’ve updated our logo and positioning statement,” said McKnight. “Together, these clearly connect our agency roots with our ReVision process to demonstrate how we approach problems, and ‘WHY?’ we’re different from other agencies.”

She said the first step with any new client is ReVision. This includes an invigorating day with the leaders of the company. The process digs deep into problems and connects ideas to reveal opportunities and uncover the best way to achieve their goals.

“We take a holistic approach to our clients’ problems. We want ensure their marketing connects with their audience in a meaningful way that gets results,” McKnight said.
