Atlantic Natural Foods is a producer of vegetarian food products that look and taste like meat but are made from natural, plant-based products, such as Soy and wheat. When we took them through ReVision, we discovered two problems that turned out to be great opportunities. First, there was a growing interest in all natural, non-gmo foods and second, people were skeptical about vegetarian meat products until they tasted them. Our first step was to develop a brand that could appeal to the upscale, health-conscious market. The result was Caroline’s natural. A non-GMO, all natural line of vegetarian products ranging from hamburger-like taco filling to fish-less tuna and 5 bean chili. Second, we developed an aggressive strategy for sampling the product that included (1) a vegetarian taco food truck (2) recommendations from vegetarian food bloggers (3) in-store sampling and (4) value -priced sample packs sold through Amazon. Within one year the company went from selling nothing on Amazon to selling well over $1 million through Amazon alone. That experience allowed the company to expand the product line and get the attention of high end retailers such as Whole Foods, Ingles, and Harris Teeter.
